Just donâ€â„¢t bottle it

FreshStay, a website created by Pineapple Hospitalityâ€â„¢s Ray Burger, lists hotels distinguished by the freshness of their air. Itâ€â„¢s a good idea, and a marketable one. Visit www.freshstay.com to discover more than 100 U.S. hotels that are smoke-free. Not all are Westins, though that Starwood flag is the first (and so far only) major brand to mandate smokeless properties.

Based in St. Charles, MO, Pineapple Hospitality is a spinoff of Green Suites International, the environmentally sensitive company Burger founded in the mid-â€Ëœ90s. Pineapple manages hotels and sells wellness-oriented products.

Properties listed at FreshStay offer an ambience designed to prevent afflictions such as nasal congestion, persistent cough and, in children, the onset of asthma. The more pineapples, the more fresh indoor-air products, processes and practices at the property, according to Burger.

I think FreshStay is a good idea with great marketing potential. I only hope it doesnâ€â„¢t lead to bottles of fresh air that properties sell like designer water. Giving the consumer more choices is good; commercializing those choices can dilute the offering.
