Nontraded REITs' Cash and Assets

Nontraded REITs have approximately $3.6 billion in cash and equivalents. Effective REITs (those still raising money) have $2.5 billion and closed REITs (those that are not raising funds) have $1.1 billion.

Overall, the nontraded REIT sector controls $69.9 billion in assets. Closed REITs own $51.1 billion in assets while effective REITs have $18.8 billion.

Of the 57 nontraded REITs tracked by Blue Vault Partners, nearly half, 27, are diversified REITs while another 5 specialize in retail.
