EXPANSION PLANS: The number of new shopping center projects is on the rise. Approximately 150 companies unveiled their plans to expand, renovate, redevelop or build new more than 700 shopping centers and retail stores in 1998 and beyond, according to responses to Shopping Center World's "Annual Survey of the Industry's Top Owners and Managers." This compares to more than 170 companies last year that reported similar activity on the same number of centers. Of that 700, approximately 42 percent will be new centers, which also is up from last year's 29 percent.
Development plans for each of the respondents are listed here alphabetically by the developer's/owner's name. Project listings include the appropriate designations such as new center (N), expansion (E), renovation (RN), and redevelopment (RD), as well as type of center, gross leasable area (GLA) in square feet, and completion date where available.
