Shoppers at the Palm Store in L.A.'s Century City mall can settle down to tinker with high-tech toys at cafe table-like stations. Messy cords and wires are hidden with slender vertical fixtures that also house the store's lighting. Askew Nixon Ferguson architects of Memphis, Tenn., and B&N Industries of Burlingame, Calif., won an outstanding merit award from the National Association of Store Fixture Manufacturers for design.
