Lat Purser & Associates Inc. Mike Longmore was appointed vice president of the retail services and brokerage areas of Charlotte, N.C.-based Lat Purser & Associates Inc.'s Norfolk, Va., office. Most recently, Longmore was assistant vice president of sales, retail services and business development for Goodman Segar Hogan Hoffler.

ORIX Real Estate Equities Inc. James H. Purinton has been promoted to president and CEO of Chicago-based ORIX Real Estate Equities Inc. For the past six years, Purinton headed the company's rapid national growth in office, retail, industrial, theater and hotel development. Also, Kensuke Ishibashi has been named vice chairman of the company, following his transfer from the parent company, ORIX Corp. Brian Gordon and Stephen Hess also have been named vice presidents in the development group.

Konover Property Trust Inc. Michael Chlebovec has been appointed vice president of asset management of Cary, N.C.-based Konover Property Trust Inc. In his new role, Chlebovec will be responsible for analysis and strategic planning for the assets in the REIT's portfolio of shopping centers with the objective of improving financial performance and enhancing net operating income. Most recently, he served as vice president of asset management for Crown America Realty Trust.

Marcus & Millichap Real Estate Investment Brokerage Co. Jon W. Paulson has been named national director/senior vice president of the institutional services group of Palo Alto, Calif.-based Marcus & Millichap Real Estate Investment Brokerage Co. In his new role, Paulson is responsible for developing and managing client relationships with institutional investors as well as coordinating delivery of the firm's research, investment origination and disposition capabilities to institutional property owners nationwide. Most recently, he served as senior vice president/regional manager of CB Richard Ellis' Investment Properties Group.

Pawling Corporation Gerald J. Palanzo Jr. has been named vice president of Wassaic, N.Y.-based Pawling Corp.'s standard products division. In his new position, Palanzo becomes an officer of the corporation, while maintaining profit and loss responsibility for operations of the division. Palanzo will retain his position as general manager of the standard products division.

Nottingham Properties J. Joseph Credit has been elected executive vice president of Baltimore-based Nottingham Properties Inc. and Nottingham Village Inc. Credit's new position expands his responsibilities at the corporate operations level. He will continue to direct all of Nottingham's commercial development projects and acquisitions.

Award-Winning Contractor DiesRichard A. Raphael, founder and CEO of Deerfield Beach, Fla.-based RCC Associates, died Aug. 25 at his home in Delray Beach, Fla. He was 53.

Raphael, a prominent force in retail and restaurant construction, was known in south Florida as "Mr. Retail." He worked his way up from the construction ranks to head RCC Associates, a specialist in upscale retail and restaurant buildout construction.

The company has an extensive portfolio of accomplishments including nearly 50 projects at the internationally known Bal Harbour Shops in Bal Harbour, Fla., and multiple high-profile contracts for exclusive retailers along Worth Avenue in Palm Beach, Aventura Mall in northern Dade County, The Falls in South Dade and Town Center in Boca Raton.

RCC Associates has done national assignments for the Cheesecake Factory and Coco Pazzo, and regional work with The Official All Star Cafe on South Beach, Planet Hollywood in Key West, Big Pink and Mezzanote in Fort Lauderdale, and the newly announced Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville at Universal Studios in Orlando.

Following his graduation in 1967 from Roosevelt University in Chicago, Raphael started his career as a plumber's apprentice and became a licensed journeyman and plumbing contractor. In 1976, he founded a company that would someday evolve into RCC Associates Inc. Raphael moved to south Florida in 1981.

Longtime RCC management professionals Deborah Popkin and Richard "Rick" Rhodes have been designated co-managers for the company. Popkin has been named president, and Rhodes is director of construction operations.

Raphael is survived by his wife, Beverly, and two daughters, Lindsay and Robyn.

Penner Resigns From Capital Co. of America The Capital Co. of America has announced the resignation of Ethan Penner, its founder and vice chairman of the board. Penner and Capital America's owner, Nomura Holding America Inc. (NHA), had different views on the company's expansion plans, according to Brian Pilcher, Capital America co-CEO. Penner founded the company, which now has 420 employees, in 1993.
