San Diego-based JMI Realty Inc. is developing a third hotel in its hometown, a 12-story, 284-room Marriott hotel in the city's Del Mar Heights/Carmel Valley area. The $50 million hotel, which will feature 12,600 sq. ft. of meeting space and a 7,800 sq. ft. ballroom, is slated for completion in summer 2001.
The Del Mar Marriott is part of an 8.65-acre development that will include an eight-story, Class-A office building under development by Dallas-based Prentiss Properties. The hotel's STICKs restaurant will feature an exhibition kitchen and a sushi bar.
JMI Realty also is developing a 33-story Westin hotel and a 203-room AmeriSuites hotel in San Diego's Ballpark District, a 26-block redevelopment project surrounding the planned baseball stadium.
