In designing the 15-story Langham Place shopping and entertainment center in Kowloon, Hong Kong, The Jerde Partnership imagined a giant rock mountain that visitors can scale and explore via a super-long escalator going up and, going down, a gently-graded corkscrew ramp lined with more than 300 shops — providing a seamless transition between levels. The center is part of Great Eagle Holding's 1.8 million-square-foot mixed-use project, which includes a 59-story office tower, now Kowloon' tallest building.
