USFS reshapes franchise unit

Atlanta-based U.S. Franchise Systems Inc. (USFS) has united all of its brands under one department to strengthen its Franchise Support services. According to Roy Flora, senior vice president of Franchise Operations, the repositioning of the division will help the company grow its brands and enhance services to franchisees.

USFS, which franchises Microtel Inns & Suites, Hawthorn Suites and Best Inns & Suites, also has announced three promotions for its franchise resource and field support functions. Dave Shaw Jr., who has been with the company since 1995, will be director of Franchise Resources for Best Inns & Suites. He was formerly franchise resource manager for that brand.

Christy Williams, who previously worked for Holiday Inn and Econo Lodge brands, will become director of Field Support for the Microtel and Best Inns divisions. Faye Deloso, who joined USFS in 1998 as field operations manager for Hawthorn, will be director of field support for Hawthorn. The revamped franchise department is headed by Terry Fox, vice president of Franchise Support.
