Craig Will Build Outlet Near New Simon/Tanger Center

SUNBURY, OH—Craig Realty Group, based in Orange County, Calif., has announced plans for a new 350,000-sq.-ft. new outlet center here in this suburb north of Columbus.

The center will be built in the 1,000-acre planned NorthGate Centre, which is supposed to include sports field, up to eight hotels, up to three million sq. ft. of retail and office and up to 10 million sq. ft. of distribution facilities. The property is on both sides of Interstate 71, just south of the Route 36/37 interchange.

Steven Craig, president and CEO, said in a statement that the center will break ground by early 2014, and will have a collection of national and local retail brands. He did not elaborate on how many stores or if the company is currently in negotiations with tenants. "After almost two years of research, including dialogue with community building authorities and conducting transportation studies, we believe we have found the ideal location for the new center," he said.

Less than a month ago, a partnership of Simon Property Group and Tanger Outlets also announced plans to build an approximately 350,000 square foot outlet center in the same general area. The projected 90-store property is also set to open by the 2014 holiday season.
