Green Bay Packaging Buys Former World Color Plant

LEBANON, OH—Green Bay Packaging has purchased a new 269,000-sq.-ft. facility here, known as the World Color Press site, for a reported $4.2 million.

The company said it bought the new facility to improve and expand its manufacturing operations due to ongoing sales growth. World Color merged with Quebecor Printing in 1999, and was later taken over by Quad/Graphics, which closed this and other plants in 2010.

Green Bay will move out of its current manufacturing facilities in Sycamore Township, Ohio, according to company officials in a recent statement. The company bought a local packing firm in the township in 1985, and has operated a division here since then. The new facility is on 28 acres in Lebanon, and will include manufacturing and warehouse space, as well as a design center.

“The new plant will manufacture corrugated shipping containers in a variety of sizes and will serve businesses in the southern two-thirds of Ohio, southern Indiana, and northern Kentucky,” said Bryan Hollenbach, executive vice president at Green Bay. He said the company will move its facility operations throughout the first quarter of 2013.
