Key Takeaways: 10 Admired Individuals in Multifamily

NREI’s 2014 Multifamily Housing Survey not only looked into the outlook for the U.S. multifamily sector in terms of property fundamentals and investment sales, but also delved into the identities of 10 of the admired companies and 10 influential executives in the space.

AvalonBay Communities was among those chosen, along with Equity Residential, Archstone, Boston Capital, Hunt Companies and Camden Property Trust. On a personal level, Sam Ross, CEO of Winn Cos., got kudos for being “flexible, [showing] long-range planning [and running a] green company,” according to one respondent, as well as for helming a “forward-moving company,” according to another. Equity Residential’s David Neithercut was described as “a great manager” and lauded for following sustainable practices. Tom Bozzuto, of The Bozzuto Group, has a reputation for “honesty, integrity and success” and being a “class guy.” Meanwhile, Richard LeFrak, of the LeFrak Organization, has demonstrated a “steadfast, long-term approach to the multifamily business.”

The survey was based on a sample of 1,001 professionals, including 947 respondents involved in the multifamily sector as investors, developers, brokers or lenders.
