North American Properties will develop the Courthouse MarketPlace, a 900,000-sq.-ft. regional shopping center in Chesterfield County, Va. Completion is scheduled for the spring of 2010.

HSA Commercial Real Estate hired Kevin G. Augustyn as senior vice president of retail development. Augustyn has 20 years of experience in commercial real estate and has worked for such firms as Trammell Crow Co. and Opus North Corp.

Brandywine Realty Trust and the University of Pennsylvania will redevelop several U.S. Postal Service facilities in Philadelphia into Cira Centre South. The mixed-use development will contain up to 500,000 sq. ft. of office space, a 733,000-sq.-ft. garage and additional retail, hotel and residential components. Construction on the project will begin in the first quarter of 2008, with completion scheduled for mid-2010.

Levin Management Corp. promoted Paul Tavaglione to assistant vice president. Prior to joining Levin Management as a controller in 2001, Tavaglione served as accounting supervisor with Edison Properties.

W/S Development broke ground on Phase II of Acadia Crossing, a 500,000-sq.-ft. open-air center in Ellsworth, Maine. The project involved a $50 million expansion of Acadia Crossing.

Pennsylvania Real Estate Investment Trust broke ground on Monroe Marketplace, a 700,000-sq.-ft. shopping center in Monroe Township, Pa.

Ala Moana Center in Honolulu, Hawaii, will undergo a 300,000-sq.-ft. expansion, increasing its size to more than 2.1 million sq. ft. Scheduled for completion in the spring of 2008, the expansion will bring several newcomers to the state, including J. Crew, Chico's, Vera Bradley and Design Within Reach.

Hawthorne Retail Partners, Inc. and Crescent Resources, LLC will develop University Marketplace, a mixed-use redevelopment project in Durham, N.C. The partners plan to turn the site of the existing Regency Plaza shopping center into 300 luxury residential units and 115,000 sq. ft. of retail space. Construction is scheduled to begin in 2008, with completion slated for 2009-2010.

Acadia Realty Trust elected William T. Spitz to its board of trustees. Previously, Spitz served as vice chancellor for investments and treasurer of Vanderbilt University.

Genesis Partners Inc. will build a 530,000-sq.-ft. retail center in Bridgeport, W.V.

THF Realty is moving ahead on the development of the Firestone City Centre, a 400,000-sq.-ft. retail property in Firestone, Colo. The company recently signed Home Depot as the first tenant at the center.

Jones Lang LaSalle promoted Thomas Morande to the position of international director. Previously, Morande served as managing director and CFO with the firm.

MulvannyG2 Architecture appointed Gregory Carpenter as design principal with its international group. Carpenter has 30 years of experience in design. Prior to joining MulvannyG2, he worked at Callison.

Trachman Indevco, LLC broke ground for Citrus Crossing, a $75 million, 23-acre mixed-use redevelopment project in Azusa, Calif. When completed, the project will include 175,000 sq. ft. of retail space and 102 townhomes. Citrus Crossing is scheduled for completion in the fall of 2008.
