Law Firm Leases 15,000 Sq. Ft. at W&H Properties’ Empire State Building

NEW YORK—Law firm Clifton Budd & DeMaria LLP (CBDM) has signed a 15,072-sq.-ft. lease to occupy space on the 61st floor of the Empire State Building, which is supervised by Malkin Holdings. The firm is relocating to its new space from its current location at 410 Lexington Ave. in the second quarter of 2013.

William Fressle and Franklin Speyer of Cushman & Wakefield represented the tenant in the lease negotiations, while William Cohen and Ryan Kass of Newmark Grubb Knight Frank represented the landlord. Attorneys involved in the transaction were Gerald Bukary of Goldberg Weprin Finkel Goldstein LLP for the tenant and David J. Bleckner and Ian Lester of David J. Bleckner PC for the landlord.

“CBDM is relocating to the Empire State Building from the Grand Central district,” said Anthony Malkin, president of Malkin Holdings. “The Empire State Building’s location is convenient to Grand Central Terminal, Penn Station, and the Port Authority Bus Terminal, and it’s close to the 4, 5 and 6 lines as well.”

Founded more than a century ago, CBDM has participated in many of the nation’s most significant cases involving union-management relations.

The Empire State Building recently underwent energy-efficient, building-wide infrastructure upgrades totaling $550 million. Standing 1,454 ft. tall, the property is owned by W&H Properties.
