Montefiore Medical Signs 280,000-Sq.-Ft. Lease for New Construction at Hutchinson Metro Center

NEW YORK—Montefiore Medical Center has reached an agreement with Simone Development to lease a new11-story, 280,000-sq.-ft. building at Hutchinson Metro Center. A new construction project, the property is slated for completion in the third quarter of 2014. The initial lease agreement totals 16 years with an option to extend the lease or purchase the property.

“This new tower will allow Montefiore to bring the healthcare of tomorrow to our patients here in the Bronx,” said Steven M. Safyer, MD, president and CEO of Montefiore Medical Center. “We are reshaping outpatient care and establishing leading practices that provide Montefiore’s world-class treatments through multidisciplinary teams at a hospital without beds.”

Simone Development’s plans for the building include an ambulatory surgery center equipped with 12 operating and four procedure rooms; an advanced imaging center; onsite laboratory services and pharmacy; and new primary and specialty care practices.

The new tower will be situated next to another building on the Simone Development property, which is also home to Montefiore’s Center for Orthopaedic Specialties. This will be Montefiore’s fourth campus, extending the provider’s care to a new area in the Bronx.

Montefiore’s network encompasses more than 130 locations, 50 advanced primary and specialty care centers, 19 school health clinics, a home health agency and four traditional hospitals.

Hutchinson Metro Center is a 42-acre suburban-style campus with Class A office space, which offers free parking and complimentary shuttle service to nearby subway lines.
