Real Estate Pro Steve Siegel Seeks Bone Marrow Donor for Wife Wendy

NEW YORK—Steve Siegel, a longtime friend of REBNY and distinguished industry figure, is asking for your help. Steve’s wife Wendy is battling leukemia. Wendy has been in remission for several months, but recently her cancer became active again. She is likely to need a bone marrow transplant and time is of the essence. There is no match in Wendy’s family and no perfect match in the worldwide registry. So REBNY is aiding Steve and Wendy in getting out the word to possible donors.

CBRE, in coordination with the Gift of Life Bone Marrow Registry, will be testing to identify potential matches for bone marrow donation. Bone marrow compatibility testing is fast and painless, determined by a saliva sample taken by swiping the inside of the cheek with a cotton swab. Eligible donors must be aged 18-60 and in general good health. The testing seeks to enroll as many eligible donors as possible to find a perfect match for Wendy, and the countless other patients in similar circumstances.

The Bone Marrow Screening/Search will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 26, from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Grand Hyatt New York, 109 E. 42nd Street, in the Manhattan Ballroom.

In addition to participating in the bone marrow screening, there are other ways in which you can help:

• If anyone is interested in being screened as a potential bone marrow donor, they may contact Jay Feinberg of the Gift of Life Bone Marrow Registry at [email protected]. • Make a contribution to help offset the laboratory testing cost. Each test is $60 per donor. • You can also order an at-home cheek swab kit from Gift of Life by registering online at www.giftoflife.org/register.

For more information about becoming a donor, visit: www.giftoflife.org or call the Gift of Life Bone Marrow Registry at 1-800-9MARROW.
