PRESS RELEASE: First Newark Visitor Center to Open at Berger's 60 Park Place

NEWARK, NJ - The Greater Newark Convention & Visitors Bureau will open the city's first Visitor Center at The Berger Organization's Military Park Building, 60 Park Place in Newark, announced Brendan Berger, vice president. The group this summer signed a long-term lease for 1,875 square feet on the 21-story office tower's first floor.

"We are thrilled to be establishing a Visitor Center and our offices on the perimeter of historic Military Park,” noted Michael Davidson, executive director of the Greater Newark Convention & Visitors Bureau. “Newark is a happening place with world-class events and attractions; and this new location will enable us to introduce visitors to an endless parade of offerings, adventures and opportunities."

The Greater Newark Convention & Visitors Bureau was founded in 2008 under the Brick City Development Corporation, to serve as the city's marketing arm. Over the past 18 months under Davidson's direction, the organization has rolled out the "Newark Happening" brand to promote the city's many cultural and recreational venues, hotels, restaurants and other tourism draws.

"The Greater Newark Convention & Visitors Bureau is working to showcase Newark as a premier destination on a global level," Berger noted. "We couldn't be prouder to have our Military Park Building serve as the face for this important initiative to promote our great city."

A 250,000-square-foot, 88-year-old historic landmark property, The Military Park Building is fully occupied. Tenants there enjoy on-site parking, a fitness center, conference facilities, and on-site ownership and management. The property offers commanding views of the surrounding city, New York skyline and Military Park, where a multi-million-dollar renovation is underway. The property is proximate to Newark Liberty International Airport and major thoroughfares. It is within walking distance to the New Jersey Performing Arts Center and Penn Station, which provides 20-minute NJ Transit and PATH service to midtown and downtown Manhattan.
