Retail REITs Exit Latin America to Satisfy Wall Street

Two of the largest retail REITs in the U.S., DDR Corp. and Kimco Realty Corp., are in the process of exiting Latin America. One might assume the region is less attractive than it has been in the past, but that’s not the case. The real reason these companies have been compelled to say adios to Latin America is homegrown: investors and analysts have made it clear they prefer U.S. REITs to invest in U.S. real estate.
