Wilde & Greene + Natural Market

Wilde & Greene + Natural Market is a restaurant, bar and fresh foods grocery store that replaces a multi-vendor food court at the Old Orchard Mall in Skokie, Ill. That concept alone struck the jury as worthy of recognition, and the fact that the concept has been superbly executed is ultimately what earned the project the merit of honorable mention. The project’s wood exterior, expansive glass façade and bright green trim offer an understated elegance that beckons shoppers. Inside, reclaimed wood and vintage touches frame the restaurant, which features 18 different gourmet food kitchen stations. The market features a variety of freshly prepared and healthy food options, an expansive dining area, a rooftop bar and an upscale market. Originally 25,000 sq. ft., the new 30,000-sq.-ft. location required demolition of half the existing structure for a fresh foundation to accommodate the rooftop bar and dining area. Wilde & Greene embraces sustainability through its offering organic food items. It also features LED lighting throughout the building to reduce its energy consumption.
