Welcome to Retail Traffic Magazines's New Website has a brand new look.

It is with immense pleasure that we announce the re-launch of our Web site. The redesign, though, is more than a cosmetic improvement. There are new features and functions -- more of which will be rolled out in coming months -- and every story has been re-sorted into more useful and intuitive categories.

So we thought it would be useful to provide a little walkthrough -- a user's guide if you will -- of the new Retail Traffic site.

The most important elements to the new page are its navigation tools -- the navigation bar on the top and the Resources column on the right side. These will appear on every page, allowing you to easily move from one part of the site to another.

The navigation bar on top of the site includes six pull down menus -- Development, Design, Retailing, Management, Investment and Finance. These are the primary categories where the majority of Retail Traffic's online and print content resides. The pulldown menus illustrate the subcategories for each page and make finding everything we've published on, say, Mixed-Use (a subcategory in the Development section), accessible at the click of the button.

There are also five smaller buttons in the top navigation bar. There are links to our RSS feed, a News archive, the Traffic Court blog, our collection of Market Profiles and a Research page featuring our monthly Traffic Patterns and annual rankings.

The Resources column, meanwhile, includes quick links to the most recent Traffic Court blog entry, our rankings of top Markets, Owners, Managers, Lenders, Contractors and Developers, information on our weekly e-newsletter, links to recent Webcasts of interest to retail real estate professionals and information on our annual SADI awards.

Below that are boxes where we will communicate with readers about special surveys, features and supplements from Retail Traffic and other magazines that are part of Penton Media Inc.'s Commercial Real Estate and Financial Services groups including National Real Estate Investor, Expansion Management, Lodging Hospitality and other brands.

For individual stories, we've selected a new font and the pages are wider, designed for modern monitors. That makes the copy on our site more readable and accessible than ever. More importantly, you will find with every story a full complement of new article tools that allow you to syndicate, aggregate or blog our content.

We're in the business of providing the industry crucial information and analysis. And that will now include more links to third-party content. In addition to Webcasts of note, our home page will feature links to relevant third-party research as it is published. (If you've got new white papers or research reports coming out, let us know by emailing our Managing Editor Riccardo Davis at [email protected].

In the coming weeks and months, more features will be added including slideshow features on both our Development and Design pages that will highlight exciting and creative projects in the industry. (If you'd like to submit for that, send press releases and images to our Associate Editor Elaine Misonzhnik at [email protected].

Lastly, this redesign is for you, our readers. And we'd love to know what you think about the site, how it's working and what other kinds of features would be valuable to you. For that, feel free to email me directly at [email protected], or leave a comment here.
