Current stores: 10, concentrated in Texas, Kansas and Missouri.
Planned openings: 50 by the end of 2012
Average store size: Between 6,000 and 8,000 sq. ft.
Target audience: “Men of stature” who want to be able to purchase stylish clothes.
Buzz: In designing the stores, J.C. Penney wanted to go after a “brew pub meets Ralph Lauren” look, according to John Bemis, executive vice president and director of leasing and development with Jones Lang LaSalle Retail, a third-party property management firm. Bemis says he is excited about the concept’s potential. “Right now, big and tall men only have a couple of national options and this will really open the door for some stylish clothes in keeping with the traditional American look.”
