New York-based real estate brokerage Cushman & Wakefield helped its client, Discovery Communications, obtain a Platinum LEED certification, in line with Discovery’s commitment to environmentally sustainable practices. Discovery is headquartered in Silver Spring, Md. Work on the 544,000 sq. ft. office building and its additional 356,000 sq. ft. of underground parking was completed in 2003. Discovery has made substantial savings in water use. A leader in educational television programming, Discovery created Planet Green, an environmental initiative and 24-hour channel dedicated to environmental programs.
