Washington, D.C.-based eLink Communications has received $20 million in financing from the Mayfield Fund, a venture capital partnership based in Menlo Park, Calif. The broadband communications services provider will use the funding for general corporate purposes and expansion of its network.

eLink also appointed Todd Brooks, general partner of Mayfield, to its board of directors. Prior to joining Mayfield, Brooks served as a managing principal with JAFCO America Partners, a subsidiary of Japan's largest venture capital firm based in Tokyo. While at JAFCO, Brooks focused on investments in telecommunications infrastructure, technology and services.
