Safeway and Macy's West are reportedly testing vending machines that sell high-priced gadgets via robotic arms. The 28-square-foot gadget, developed by Zoom Systems, supposedly will generate revenues of between $1,500 and $15,000 per square foot. Customers order goods using a touch screen and credit card and the robotic arm inside delivers the product to customers.
