CHICAGO—M&R Development and RMK Management Corp. have broken ground at 73 East Lake, a 42-story luxury apartment building located at 73 East Lake Street in Chicago’s Loop. Representatives from equity investor UBS AG, architect Solomon Cordwell Buenz (SCB) and general contractor McHugh Construction were also present at the groundbreaking.
Upon completion, 73 East Lake will include 332 units with 178 indoor parking spaces. Amenities planned for the building include an indoor pool, oversized spa with a waterfall, sauna and steam rooms, fitness center, yoga/Pilates studio, business center and conference room, two-story cyber café, and event room, theater and game room.
In addition, residents will have access to a 2,000-sq.-ft. event room with 18-ft. ceiling heights, a sundeck, green roof, barbeque areas and cabanas.
Units within the property will range from 682 sq. ft. to 1,246 sq. ft. and will include a mix of studios, convertibles and one- and two-bedroom floor plans. Granite kitchen countertops, stainless steel, Energy Star appliances and full-sized washers and dryers are also planned.
Construction is expected to span 24 months with occupancy beginning in the spring of 2014.
