Nordson Earns LEED Certification for HQ Facility

WESTLAKE, OHIO—Nordson Corporation has earned the LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Sliver certification of its headquarters building in Westlake. The building becomes the first corporate headquarters in the greater Cleveland area to be awarded LEED certification, according to the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED Projects & Case Studies Directory. LEED is the U.S. Green Building Council’s leading rating system for designing and constructing the world’s greenest, most energy efficient, and high performing buildings.

The 28,000-sq.-ft. facility was opened in November 2010 and incorporates green building technologies, including energy-optimized lighting, HVAC and water systems, a partial green roof planted with native vegetation, a parking lot and landscape design that mitigates storm water generation, reflective white roofing materials that reduce heat island effects and regionally sourced and recycled construction materials.

Cleveland-area architectural firm Clark & Post Architects worked with Nordson to realize its LEED certification.

Other major Nordson projects that incorporate environmentally friendly features include an existing manufacturing plant in New Jersey that recently integrated solar power and a new manufacturing facility in Georgia, which features green building technologies like energy optimized lighting, reflective roofing and environmentally friendly landscape design.

Nordson Corporation delivers technology solutions to help customers increase throughput, productivity and up-time, enable new products and features and decrease material usage. The company engineers, manufactures and markets products and systems used for dispensing adhesives, sealants and more.
