June 4 NAIOP NJ Seminar to Focus on Post-Sandy Regulations for Rebuilding and More

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—On June 4, NAIOP New Jersey will hold its regulatory update seminar, which will focus on emergency regulations launched since Hurricane Sandy and how those regulations affect the rebuilding of commercial buildings.

The seminar will include two panels, which will address the state’s response to rebuilding and designing and insurance for building more resilient communities.

The first panel will address howrecently adopted NJ DEP emergency rules related to coastal zone management and flood hazard area control act and what FEMA flood maps mean to owners and developers of commercial real estate properties.

Speakers include:

  • James Giuliano, NJ BPU-Reliability & Security
  • Tim Lizura, NJEDA

Panel two will include topics on NJIT’s new Center for Resilient Design’s efforts to help ensure a resilient post-Sandy recovery in New Jersey through applied research of land use policies and flood standards, experiential learning and civic engagement. Panelists will also discuss local planning and zoning changes, how communities are responding and financial implications.
