NEW JERSEY—Dinosaur Bar-B-Que opened its first New Jersey location in Newark at 224-226 Market Street. The addition of the restaurant, which offers traditional barbeque fare, is the latest addition to the city of Newark and was brought here by the Brick City Development Corporation (BCDC).
Founded in 2007 under the Booker administration, BCDC is the primary economic development catalyst for Newark, and was organized to retain, attract and grow businesses, enhance small and minority business capacity and spur real estate development within the City. The organization also provides companies with market and demographic data and analysis, current workforce data, information on available sites and buildings and financial incentives.
The building that houses Dino’s newest location was constructed in 1890 and has been restored to highlight its historical characteristics. The 200-seat restaurant features the original mosaic floors and original pressed tin tile ceiling. The 18-seat bar counter is made from original wooden beams recovered during construction, while vintage wood paneling is featured throughout.
Dinosaur Bar-B-Que is located at the intersection of Market and Mulberry Streets with close proximity to the Prudential Center.
