Public-Private Partnership to Revitalize Newark’s Military Park

NEW JERSEY—The Military Park Partnership, a new nonprofit organization comprised of private and public sector leaders, has been selected by the Newark Municipal Council to redevelop Military Park in Newark after a unanimous approval from the council members.

The Military Park Partnership was formed by the City of Newark, Prudential and The MCJ Amelior Foundation with the aim of improving and operating a reinvigorated Military Park. The partnership has hired Dan Biederman, president, Biederman Redevelopment Ventures, to launch the effort.

Located across the street from the New Jersey Performing Arts Center, Military Park will undergo significant upgrades to address the park’s physical problems. In addition, programming for the park will be addressed so that activities can be offered to make the park a destination for the residents of Newark.

“We hope to break ground this coming spring, and then enlist local groups to provide live music, performances, games, fitness classes, and dozens of other activities for Newarkers to enjoy,” said Vaughn Crowe of The MCJ Amelior Foundation and a Military Park Partnership board member.
