Wyckoff Planning Board Unanimously Approves ShopRite Development Plans

NEW JERSEY—On Monday, Inserra Supermarkets’ application to develop a 62,042-sq.-ft. ShopRite at the corner of Greenwood and Wyckoff avenues was unanimously approved by the Township of Wyckoff’s planning board. The nine-member board voted in favor of the application after two-and-a-half years of public comment sessions and expert testimony.

Over the course of the application, Inserra has addressed traffic and safety concerns, architectural and landscaping improvements, drainage issues and parking regulations.

“We are very excited about moving forward with our plans for ShopRite of Wyckoff and establishing roots within this vibrant township,” said Lawrence Inserra, Jr., president and CEO of the Mahwah, N.J.-based company.

The ShopRite of Wyckoff site plan calls for a new structure to replace the existing unoccupied 53,500-sq.-ft. building. The property, which formerly housed an A&P and an adjoining Walgreen’s, has been vacant for more than 10 years.

Established in 1954, Inserra Supermarkets is one of the largest supermarket chains in the metropolitan area and currently owns and operates 22 ShopRite supermarkets in New Jersey and New York.
