NEW YORK—H&M Hennes & Maurtiz has leased 57,000 sq. ft. of space at 589 Fifth Avenue for its new flagship store, which will be the largest H&M store in the world.
H&M, represented by Robert Gibson and Thomas Citron, of Cushman & Wakefield, is taking the ground through fifth floors, plus a below-grade level in a long-term lease. CBRE’s Jedd Nero represented the landlord, Western Management, in the deal.
“589 Fifth Avenue was one of the few buildings on the avenue with the square footage and ceiling heights capable of handling such a large and complex retail requirement,” said Nero.
Founded in Sweden in 1947, H&M established its first North American store in 2000. The company has 2,600 stores in 44 markets worldwide and 94,000 employees.
