City of New York tells Edward J. Minskoff, 'Start developing.'

NEW YORK — The City of New York has selected New York-based Edward J. Minskoff Equities Inc. to develop a 90,565 sq. ft., city-owned site in the Tribeca neighborhood. The firm plans to build a 32-story office tower, the first major office building to be built in Lower Manhattan in more than a decade. Construction of the black granite and glass tower is expected to start in about a year, with completion slated for 2004. Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, the architects that designed the AOL/Time Warner building, designed the tower, which will have the address of 270 Greenwich St.

The building will feature more than 1 million sq. ft. of office space, along with approximately 25,000 sq. ft. of ground-level retail space. The building will also contain a 30,000 sq. ft. landscaped plaza on Greenwich Street.
