NEW YORK—Les Copains, the Italian fashion design house of men’s and women’s clothing, knitwear and accessories, purchased 46 West 55th Street for $4 million. The clothier will occupy the five-story, 7,400 sq. ft. townhouse building as its U.S. headquarters and as showrooms for its various fashion lines.
The company will relocate from its current 12 West 57th Street address by the end of this year and in time to show its Fall 2002 collections. At this time, Les Copains is renovating the building in a similar design as its U.S. retail flagship store at 807 Madison Avenue.
Bill Melville of The Lansco Corporation in New York, and his team of retail and fashion specialists, Yair Staav, Christine Emery and Douglas Zim, handled the transaction. The company, which specializes in retail leasing as well as corporate office leasing, has negotiated transactions involving over $2.2 billion in aggregate rentals.
