HOLLYWOOD, Fla. –Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide Inc., White Plains, N.Y., has been named the manager and operator of the Diplomat Country Club and Spa by New York-based LaSalle Investment Management, the investment manager for the hotel. Jones Lang LaSalle Hotels has arranged for the 60-room Diplomat Country Club and Spa, which is located in Hollywood, Fla., to retain its name and join Starwood’s Luxury Collection in a 15-year contract. The new hotel and convention center, slated to open in January 2002, will be called The Westin Diplomat Resort and Spa.
The 39-story, 996-room Westin Diplomat Resort and Spa will feature Westin’s signature bed, several restaurants, the Celebrity Room Lounge and 52,000 sq. ft. of retail space. The resort also offers a 217,000 sq. ft. convention center with meeting rooms, ballrooms and 50,000 sq. ft. of exhibition space.
