PRESS RELEASE: Thornton Tomasetti Promotes Paul G. Fu to Principal

NEW YORK CITY – The Thornton Tomasetti board of directors and managing principals announce the promotion of Paul G. Fu, P.E., to principal of the international engineering firm. Fu, who is part of the Pacific Rim team, splits his time between the firm’s New York and Beijing offices.

Mr. Fu has more than 15 years of experience in the structural analysis, design and review of a variety of building types, including mixed-use, commercial buildings and sports facilities, in both steel and concrete. His expertise includes super-tall building design, long-span structural design, seismic analysis, performance-based dynamic analysis and forensic analysis.

Mr. Fu is the co-leader of the firm’s Beijing office and Building Structure practice leader for the Pacific Rim region. His portfolio in Asia includes the 632-meter Shanghai Tower, 606+ meter Wuhan Greenland Center and the 508-meter Taipei 101 in Taiwan. Large-scale U.S. projects include the Las Vegas CityCenter Block A, Wells Fargo Arena and Hy-Vee Hall at the Iowa Event center in Des Moines and San Diego’s PETCO Park stadium.

Mr. Fu is a professional engineer in New York. He holds a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the Southeast University in Nanjing, China and a master’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Toledo.
