TUSTIN, CA – Since 2007, The District at Tustin Legacy has offered locals a one-million-square-foot lifestyle center with a diverse mix of retail outlets for dining, shopping and entertainment. Today, Vestar, a leading privately held real estate company and owner/developer of The District at Tustin Legacy, is excited to announce that it has signed a lease with Union Market Tustin, a 22,000-square-foot artisanal marketplace of independent gourmet food, fashion and lifestyle businesses set to open in 2014. Poised to bring exciting, creative and local energy to The District Promenade, Union Market Tustin will take over the space vacated by Borders Books & Music.
Union Market Tustin is the brainchild of Andrea and Russell Young. Originally inspired by the Ferry Building Marketplace in San Francisco, the couple's first project was OC Mart on 17th Street in Costa Mesa which served as the seed idea for their ultimate partnership in The OC Mart Mix, followed by the recently opened Market LV in Las Vegas. Union Market Tustin is a new retail destination set to feature unique boutiques, specialty foods, a wine bar and restaurant, and more, all under one roof. The atmosphere will be reminiscent of something you would find in New York or San Francisco, with a modern, industrial vibe and very open feel.
“We are thrilled to open our newest market at The District where we share a vision with Vestar to create a new experience for the community,” said Union Market Tustin Owner Andrea Young. “There couldn’t be a better location for our concept.”
Union Market Tustin will offer a combination of independent retail and restaurant concepts with a variety of indoor and outdoor communal areas for gathering and events. Leases will be announced as they are confirmed. By offering spaces that range from 200 to 3,000 square feet, Union Market Tustin seeks to provide independent businesses a launching pad and attract tenants of emerging artisans and brands.
In conjunction with The District Promenade’s current campus including AMC Tustin 14, RA Sushi, Auld Dubliner Irish Pub, Fashion Camp OC, Bowlmor Lanes, Vans, Tilly’s, DSW, Peet’s Coffee & Tea and Native Foods Café, Union Market Tustin is expected to bring upwards of 20 new offerings for visitors. The District has hosted numerous high profile events including Foodies & Fashionistas, the kick-off to Orange County Restaurant Week, the annual ICSC Summer Program, and Leprechaun Leap, as well as several cooking demos, Radio Disney events, charitable events, a Farmer’s Market, seasonal celebrations and test drive events.
"Vestar is excited to add Union Market Tustin which complements our current tenant mix and will serve as the inspiration for the evolution of retail, specifically in The District Promenade,” said Jeff Axtell, Vestar Vice President of Acquisitions and Development.
